Wesley Dean Britt, 89, passed away on October 7, 2025 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mr. Britt served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from February 1956 until April 1977. Mr. Britt served in the Viet Nam war from 1966-1967 where he received a Purple Heart for his physical sacrifice and being wounded in action during his military service. During his service, Mr. Britt was the chief engine mechanic for the Air Force's Thunderbirds demonstration team and also conducted field photography as a part of his service. After leaving the Air Force, he made his living as an aviation mechanic in the private sector.
He was born in Foreman, Arkansas to John and Noma Britt and was reared along with his five siblings. Mr. Britt made friends all over the country and was known as a quiet man who loved the comforts of his home, his family and his dog.
In his free time, he enjoyed technology, aviation, photography and was a keen traveler - especially trips on the back roads of America. An avid reader, he had over 780 books on his Kindle and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He loved new learning new things and having the latest gadget for his home. Mr. Britt made his home in Alamogordo as he retired from the Air Force in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful and beloved wife, Betty --they were married 45 years until her death in 2002. Mr. Britt leaves behind two sons: Brian Britt of Rio Rancho, NM and Kevin Britt of Shawnee, KS as well as a daughter, Denise Orsini of Morgantown PA. He is also survived by two siblings, Donna Verhelst of Arizona and Dwayne Britt of California. Mr, Britt will be missed greatly by his family and especially his darling miniature dachshund, Lacy, who visited and comforted him in his final days at the hospice.
While his time with us was generous, it still seems all too brief. We'll miss his bright blue eyes and shy smile. For all those veterans who served during the Viet Nam War era, we welcome you home.
Services will be held at Scenic Chapel on Thursday November 6, 2025 with visitation service at 10:00 am and the funeral service at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Britt family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
