Sena Marie (Chappel) Hansen, 41, passed away on December 31, 2024 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on August 5, 1983 in Port Jefferson, New York to William Chappel and Elna Lindstrom and grew up in Alamogordo.
Sena was passionate about math and science from a young age, especially chemistry and microbiology, and pursued her education at NMSU where she earned more degrees than a thermometer, including nursing, chemistry, biology, microbiology, Spanish and forensic science. She also enjoyed long walks on the beach, speed skating and ornithology.
After graduation and starting a family, she moved to Lehi, Utah to raise her children and worked as a chemist and microbiologist. Sena’s main focus was always her family who she loved unconditionally and served selflessly. She fought for what she knew to be right and was always quick to forgive.
She is survived by her husband, Jed Hansen, her 7 children, Elijah 19, Nathan 17, Samuel 15, Jarom 13, Joshua 11, Audrey 9, Luke 8, and her brother Jason Chappel.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Chappel, mother, Elna Lindstrom, grandparents Audrey and George Lindstrom, and Virginia and William Chappel.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 AM, Monday, January 6, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
