Ruthann Carner Obituary

Ruthann Cox Carner went to be with the Lord on May 10th in La Luz. She was born January 17, 1939, at her aunt's home in Artesia to Lincoln and Tempie (Reeves) Cox.

Ruthann graduated from Cloudcroft in 1956 where she met her husband, Edward. They were married on January 5, 1957, and were married for 62 years before Edward went to be with the Lord in 2019. Edward and Ruthann raised their family and lived most of their lives on the Carner Ranch in Cox Canyon. They moved to Oklahoma in 2003 and moved back to New Mexico to Tularosa in 2008.

Ruthann is survived by her children, Lin Smith of Alamogordo; Carel (Val) Turnbull of Mayhill; Jake (Debbie) Carner of Timberon; and Genger (John Roy) Nunn of La Luz. Her grandchildren, Beau Smith, Colt (Judy) Smith, Amanda Carner, Gennifer Baca, Laura Evans, Gilbert (Moriah) Evans, Mike Searl, Mykle Northrip, Ashlee (Dale) Cillessen, Brittney (Dan) Virden, Paige Carner, Niki (Brandon) Gililland, Leshel Garcia, Callie (Kenny) Nixon, Tabatha (Levi) Donley and Trustin Nunn. Ruthann was blessed with and survived by 40 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving Ruthann is her brother, Dub (Jenny) Cox of Lubbock; sister, Eula Marie Harrison of Las Cruces; aunt, Thelma (Reeves) Harwell Evans of Roswell; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward; her parents, Lincoln and Tempie Cox; her in-laws, Loyd and Amanda Carner; and her sister, Shirley White.

Services will be held on May 17, 2024, at the Mayhill Baptist Church at 11am. A lunch will follow for family and friends in the fellowship hall. A private burial will be on the old Carner Ranch in Cox Canyon where her family will lay her to rest beside their father and grandparents. Pallbearers will be Beau Smith, Colt Smith, Gilbert Evans, Justiss Perez, Dale Cillessen, Dan Virden, Brandon Gililland, and Jaspur Gililland.
