Russell was a multi-talented entrepreneur who was involved with various businesses throughout his life. At one time or another he owned beauty supply stores, a beauty salon, a tanning salon, antique stores and a dog grooming business. He was co-owner of a roofing company which built apartments in the vicinity of Cielo Vista mall in El Paso, Texas. He worked at the huge Farah Manufacturing plant in El Paso, and he knew the Farah family personally. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas. He raised sheep in Tularosa, NM, off of Bookout road. He helped to bring the small satellite dishes for DirectTV and Dish to the Alamogordo area and installed them with the help of his friend and co-worker, Bob. He worked at the Walmart Supercenter in Alamogordo in the fabrics department, and at various times was manager of the mail center and the appliance center. Within the last 20 years of his life, he worked for Hallmark Cards with his partner, Lee Allen Goddard. He loved his fur baby, JJ, a very intelligent female Chihuahua Terrier mix.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Henry Morris and Susie Jane (Fipps) Morris, two older brothers, and their wives, and an older sister and her husband. Russ was also pre-deceased by a niece and nephew. Russ was his father's only child, and his mother's first husband died as a young father of three. Russ and Lee also had numerous friends, including three couples, who passed within a short time of each other, who are now angels in Heaven with Russ.
Survivors include his partner, Lee Allen Goddard, and his family, Russ' sister's two daughters and one son, a daughter of his oldest brother, and numerous friends too many to mention here, including special friend, Glenda Johnson.
Cremation has taken place. There won't be any services. Russ is in all our hearts and memories now and would want us to remember him as he was, the friendly, loving, caring person he was.
I never remember Russ thinking about himself. He was always concerned about others -- Lee Allen Goddard.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the ASPCA. Or better yet, adopt a shelter pet, just like JJ.
