Raymond Dale Reed, 75, passed away at his home in White Oaks, New Mexico on January 18, 2026. He was born on February 27, 1950 in Morton, Texas to Roger and Edith Spencer Reed.
Raymond moved to Lincoln County New Mexico in 1961 at age 11 with siblings, Leon and Arlie, to start a new life with their mother, ranching in Jicarilla and White Oaks. He graduated from Carrizozo High School in 1968. He joined the US Navy in 1969 and served his country as an electrical mechanic on the nuclear submarine USS Tunny. Following his service, he went to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces pursuing a degree as an electrical engineer. Close to obtaining his degree and deciding that the corporate world was not for him, Raymond instead chose a vocation of welding and growing a family in Roswell, New Mexico before retiring to the home of his later childhood.
Survivors include his sons, Joseph McCarter, Randy North and William Reed; and his sister, Peggy Christine Reed Pinson. Raymond is also survived by 5 grandsons and one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews who were very much a part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Franklin Reed; his mother, Edith Hazel Reed Stoneman and a young son, Danny Reed. Also he is preceded by his brothers, Lyndall Stoneman and Leon Reed; and sisters, Merlene Lash and Arlie Ellen Reed.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held June 27th, 2026 at While Oaks Cedarvale Cemetery where Raymond will be interred with his beloved mother, siblings, aunt and cousin in the family plot. Pallbearers include Joseph McCarter, Randy North and William Reed.
