Ralph Bourdon Obituary

Ralph Henry Bourdon passed away on August 16th, 2021, he was 69 years old.

Ralph was born on December 9, 1951, in Manchester, CT to Elaine Bourdon and Louis Fuqua, the second of four children. He spent his childhood years living for periods on both coasts, as well as some time in Denver, CO, before his family moved to Alamogordo, NM in the mid-1960s. Ralph attended Alamogordo High School where he developed life-long friendships and decided that he wanted to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force.

Ralph served six years in the Air Force both domestic and abroad, and was eventually stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, where he was a valued aircraft electrician - a career he maintained until 2016. Shortly after coming home to Alamogordo, he met his wife Kathy Bourdon, who was also stationed at Holloman.  Ralph and Kathy knew they were meant for each other and after a brief engagement, married on May 13, 1977; a marriage that spanned over 44 years.

Ralph was a lifelong tinkerer, inventor and problem solver and was often the first person his friends and family called when they had an issue with cars, electronics, plumbing, or anything else that required a hands-on approach with a unique problem-solving skillset. He was truly a “Jack of All Trades”.  Ralph enjoyed riding dirt-bike motorcycles, camping, and being in his workshop and garage where he was constantly fixing, making, or studying something. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for over 10 years and was a valued leader with Troop 142.

Ralph attended the Church of Christ in La Luz, NM as a young adult, and eventually led the congregation for over 30 years. He was a Christian and lived his life in a way that he believed to be honest, fair, and true. Ralph led his family to live the same type of lifestyle.

Ralph was preceded in death by his mother and father, and favorite cat Bob. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Marc Bourdon (Sarah) of Durango, CO; son, Doug Bourdon of Albuquerque, NM; and daughter, Jacque Barker (Luke), of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by granddaughters, Charlee, Scarlett and Jocelyn and his sisters, Linda Munson of Clarksville, TN, Robin Lackey of Alamogordo, NM, and Carrie Matthews of Alamogordo, NM

Ralph was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be sorely missed by all, in many ways.
