Obituary
Phyllis Irene Fechner passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2022 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on November 16, 1933 to Warren and Lillian Drost in Wade, Maine.
Phyllis was one of eight siblings, four girls and four boys. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Lillian; her brothers, Floyd and Freeman; her sisters, Amy and Betty and her son, Robert.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie of Alamogordo; brothers, Richard of Florida and Willie of Maine and sister, Joyce of Maine. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Fechner of Phoenix and Jason Fechner of Las Cruces, as well as her great grandchild, Aiden Fechner of Las Cruces.
After high school, Phyllis moved with the military and lived in Main, Missouri, Nebraska, and finally New Mexico. Phyllis and family settled in Alamogordo, NM. Phyllis worked as a custodian at Alamogordo High School for 27 years from 1981-2008. In 2003-2004 she was honored as Employee of the Year of AHS. She finally retired at the age of 75 in 2008.
Phyllis was a beautiful, funny, and tough woman. Her kindness and love brought joy to everyone that knew her. In her time at AHS she helped and encouraged students and teachers alike. She was very loved and will be deeply missed.
Cremation will be handled by PCS as requested by Phyllis.
