Dr. Paul Harry Langner, VMD, age 84, passed away on March 29, 2022, in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Born on August 10th, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Paul and Betty Langner, he grew up in the Philadelphia area. After completing a B.A. in English at the University of Pennsylvania he went on to graduate from Penn’s School of Veterinary Medicine, upon which he secured an internship at Penn’s New Bolton Center large animal hospital.
Shortly after graduating, Paul was drafted into the Army and spent a year in Vietnam where he and his troop put up the first Veterinary clinic on the DMZ at Quang Tri combat base.
Upon his return to civilian life, Paul went on to practice small animal medicine for most of his career. He also spent time in a private racehorse practice. He received an M.S. from Drexel University and pursued a fellowship in Lab Animal Medicine at the Hershey Medical Center, leading to appointments at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Illinois, and Holloman Air Force Base, which ultimately brought him to Alamogordo.
Survivors include his daughter, Lara Tennison, grandchildren Noah and Eli Tennison, his brother Richard Langner, nieces Rachel and Jessica Bluebond-Langner, cousins Mike, Babs, and Susan Langner and Jerryl Galassini, his ex-wives Suzanne Langner and Maxine LaPlace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Woods and cousin Mark Langner.
Services will be managed privately.
