Noel M Akers

Noel M. Akers, 92, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2021. He was born to Jess and Amanda Akers on November 23, 1929 in Weed, NM. 

Noel was a lifetime resident and rancher of Weed.  He retired from the US Forest Service, then resumed full-time ranching up until his death.

Noel was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of the Weed Baptist Church.  He loved his family, friends and neighbors.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He loved strumming his guitar and humming good ole country and gospel tunes that he cherished and held close to his heart. 

Noel is preceded in death by his father, Jess, mother Amanda, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, wife Barbara and son Marvin.

He is survived by son Nolan, daughter Netta, Neil Jo and Amanda, wife Shirley and his extended family Rita, Gary, Steve and Robin, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Noel was loved by all that knew him and will be remembered forever in our hearts.

In honor of Noel, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Only one life will soon be passed
Only what's done for Christ will last.

Visitation service will be held at Scenic Chapel, 1334 N Scenic Drive in Alamogordo on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 4 PM.

The Akers family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
