Myrtis Loretta Allen, 91 passed away on January 25, 2025, in Alamogordo New Mexico. She was born on October 6, 1933, in Livingston, Texas to Terrell B and Dorothy McIlvain Atkinson.
She married Marvin (Buddy) Allen on December 9, 1950. Marvin was enlisted in the USAF. And they lived in various places which included Ft Walton Beach, Fl, San Bernardino, CA, Harlington, TX, and Holloman AFB. During these years they were blessed with 3 children, Debra, Monica and Mark. Myrtis was a devoted wife and mother who chose to be at home to raise her children and shape their futures.
When the children were older, she chose to work outside of the home. Her first job was at the Holloman Base Exchange. After 3 years she was given the opportunity to work for the Base Commissary. From there she accepted a position at the Holloman Accounting and Finance, where she received numerous awards and recognitions until her retirement on Oct 31, 1993. After Retirement she enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and crochet.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Findley of Choctaw, OK; son, Mark Allen of Alamogordo, NM; sister, Laurie Reeves of Conroe, TX; and brother, Tommy Atkinson of Spring, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death her father, Terrell Beatrice Atkinson; mother, Dorothy Mae Dean; husband, Marvin Allen; daughter, Monica Gray; and brother, Rodney Lee Dean.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday January 30, 2025, at Scenic Chapel at 1334 N Scenic Dr.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday January 31, 2025, at Scenic Chapel with Pastor Billy Tucker officiating.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery, 1590 E 1st Street.
The Allen family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
