Meron Wilson Jr. 78 passed away on November 27, 2022, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born to the late Meron Wilson Sr, and Maggie (Wiggins) in Phenix City, Alabama. He graduated from Mother Mary Mission High School in 1962.
Meron Wilson received an Associate Degree at Tuskegee University 1962-1964, served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, and retired as Chief Master Sergeant 1965-1995, received a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy University. After his military retirement he became The Executive Director of The Opportunity Center (1995-2006), and a Fund Developer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico in Otero County (2008-2018) and then he finally retired.
His biggest achievement was becoming a Deacon at Corinth Baptist Church in 1999. For 16 years (2000-2016) he served his church Laymen's Ministry as a Local, District, and State President. He was also a certified instructor where he provided religious training on a variety of topics.
He is survived by his wife of 6 years Candace Wilson, and his son Marcus Wilson (Tonia) Phenix
City, Alabama, two sisters Mildred (Richard) Mahome of Detroit, Michigan, and Dorothy Ann
Washington of Columbus, Georgia, two stepdaughters Deidra Haralson (Floyd) Manassas, VA
and Nichole Branch Albuquerque, NM and stepson Sylvester Branch Jr. Albuquerque, NM, and
20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other
relatives.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Meron Wilson Sr. and Maggie Wiggins. Two brothers James and Larry Wilson.
Funeral services will be on December 3, 2022, at Corinth Baptist Church, 400 Delaware. The viewing will be at 10:00 am and funeral at 11:00 am, with Pastor James E. Forney officiating.
