Mary Louisa Hernandez, Born November 5, 1945, a lifelong resident of Alamogordo, was called Home to her Lord on April 11, 2026.
Mary was a wonderful, devoted, and loving wife to her husband, Ruben V. Hernandez. She was an attentive, loving, and caring mother to her 4 children and to her 8 grandchildren, whom she adored. She was also very dedicated in her support of her children and the many sports activities in which they were involved throughout their school years.
Mary was a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was baptized, received her First Holy Communion, was Confirmed, and was married to Ruben V. Hernandez. She attended Dudley School in Alamogordo then attended public school soon after. She graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1964. Mary also spent 21 years at Chaparral Junior High as a school lunch attendant and as an assistant teacher when needed.
Mary was an avid Lakers & Dodgers fan. She loved bowling in her younger years and would travel to tournaments. Mary also enjoyed tending to her many trees, bushes, and flowers on the property she and Ruben shared. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining, and being surrounded by family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all, her love, kindness, and laughter will forever live in our hearts.
She is proceeded in death by her Mother, Esabel Armenta, Grandparents, Braulio and Petra Estrada, Tia Maria, and many aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
She is survived by her husband Ruben V. Hernandez of 59 years, their four children, Rene Hernandez, wife Cathy and daughter Brooke, Ruben Hernandez and wife Alicia and daughters, Leah, Ariana, & Cierra, Angel Hernandez and son Seth, and significant other, Suzanne Salazar and their children Faith, Noah, & Mia, Selina Hernandez and wife, Andrea Toledo, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Saturday, May 16, 2026. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
The Hernandez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel.
