Martha (Nita) Johnson

Our lives are saddened by the loss of our mother, grandmother, and friend, Martha  Johnson better known as Nita who passed away on April 19th, 2025 . 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy; two sons, Ben and Dale; daughter, Reynea; all her siblings; and mother and father, Martha and William Hevert.

Nita was born in Tucumcari and her father provided a happy home by working for Southern Pacific Railroad his whole life. Nita had eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She had an assortment of nephews one being Jimmy Morris who consistently checked on her. 

She had great joy in her life by working side by side with the love of her life, husband, Lee Roy, for over 40 years. Nita took such good care of him when he was so sick all those years and for that we will be forever grateful. 

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Viewing will be at Scenic Chapel, formerly Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 12:00 noon and graveside service to follow at Monte Vista cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
