On September 10, 2022, friends and family lost a wonderful lady, but heaven gained a beautiful soul. Linda Marie Burton (73) was born June 5, 1949, in Akron, Ohio to James and Arlene Cox (deceased).
Linda graduated from Kenmore High school and attended business school in Barberton, Ohio. She married the love of her life and soulmate, Keith Burton in 1968. Together they spent 54 exciting and meaningful years. As a couple, they started their journey in Ohio and it continued to Arizona and New Mexico. During these years Linda and her husband served in youth ministry in Mescalero and foster care. Linda worked for Tularosa Elementary School for 21 years and magically touched many of her students’ lives as the Music and Movement Teacher. Her passion was getting students excited about music and performing. Linda held and directed up to seven grade-level performances every school year.
She leaves behind her spouse, Keith Burton, daughter Michelle and husband Jay Calderara of Tularosa, and son Marlon Burton of Alamogordo. Linda had four grandchildren, Tara Calderara, Chelsey Calderara, Giovanna Calderara, and Elijah Calderara. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Tularosa, NM at 11 a.m. on October 1st, 2022. All who would love to celebrate “Ms. Lindy’s” life are welcome to join us in her memory.
