John Harvey Robertson was born on February 24, 1945 in Kingman, Arizona to Opal Marie Robertson and William (Robbie) H. Robertson.
He spent his childhood in and around Norman, Oklahoma before moving to Alamogordo in 1956. He attended Cloudcroft High School during his teen years. During high school he was an avid hunter and expert with a bow and arrow. He then joined the U.S. Marines and was stationed in the Kwajelein Islands. After returning home he became enthralled with horses and trained and raced horses for many years in Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico. He then settled permanently in the Alamogordo area. He had currently owned and operated the Mid Town Auto Sales here in Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and "Robbie" Robertson and his daughter, Kerry of Killeen, Texas.
He is survived by a son, John H. Robertson, Jr. of Ruidoso, New Mexico and two grandchildren, Jacob and Charlotte, also of Ruidoso and a sister, Anne Robertson French plus several nephews all of Alamogordo, NM.
Graveside services under the direction of Scenic Chapel will be held Friday, January 21 at 3:30 pm at Monte Vista Cemetery where he will rest beside his Dad and Mom
