In Memory of John Bayless
John David Bayless, 46, died on March 5, 2017 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born in Goiana, Goiás, Brazil on July 8, 1970, the adopted son of David and Beverly Bayless, missionaries in Belém, Pará, Brazil. He spent his childhood in Brazil, then moved to Albuquerque in 1988. He enlisted in the Marine Corps, finishing training in San Diego in 1990 and serving in the First Iraq War 1990-1991.
John was married to Sarah Payne of Federal Way, Washington in 2004. They were the parents of beloved son John Jr. They first lived in Albuquerque and later in Alamogordo.
John was preceded in death by his mother Beverly and his brother Paul. Besides his widow and son, John is survived by father David Bayless and wife Carol of Belém, Brazil, sister Joanne Stanford of Frisco, Texas, sister Anne Bayless de Aviz of Belém, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. Afterwards at 2:30 p.m., there will be a time of remembrance at the Best Western Airport Hotel event room, 2400 Yale SE in Albuquerque. Friends are welcome.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the United States Marine Corp League of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
The Bayless family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
