Jackie Lee Burris

Jackie Lee Burris, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 23rd 2022, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on October 14th1938, in Massena, Iowa to Fred and Ethel (Johnson) Burris of Massena, Iowa. 

Jack was a Vietnam War veteran and had multiple deployments around the globe with the Air Force, including Thailand, Korea, and the Philippines. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 20 years and 6 months and completed an associate degree in Liberal Arts. He was an active member of the New Mexico and California Free Masons, the VFW, was a former American Legion member, and hosted the Wounded Warriors for many years in the Sacramento Mountains. He was a lover of classic cars and was a member of many different Car Clubs over the years. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Burris of New Mexico; his sons, Gregory Burris of New Mexico, Gerald Burris of Georgia, Vincent Burris, Mark Burris, and Pete Burris all of Washington. Siblings are Judy Wolford and Diane Peterson of Iowa. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ethel; siblings, Lois Mullen, June Davis, William Burris; and son, Patrick Burris. 

A memorial service will be held at a time to be determined. His remains will be interred in a family plot in Corning Iowa. 

He will be remembered by his family and many friends for his congeniality and generosity
