Gladys James Obituary

Gladys Pearl Catron James, 92, passed on to her Heavenly home on September 26, 2023, from Alamogordo, New Mexico.

She was born on October 11, 1930, in Cumberland City, Kentucky, to James and Flora (Jones) Catron.

She was a member of the Wesleyan Holiness Church and helped teach Sunday School. She later became a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in New Castle, Indiana, for many years- loved the Lord and reading and memorizing the Bible.

She traveled to North Carolina, where she served as secretary for Salisbury Christian School, during its first years.

She was a wonderful, Godly mother who enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her own mother, Flora, and daughter, Cindy, as well as other children in her home.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia James Miller (husband) Vincent, and grandchildren: Kyle Miller, Sierra Miller, and Aubriana Miller, of Alamogordo, New Mexico. She is also survived by two sisters, Mae Sannes (husband) Harlan, Marie Carpenter (husband) Ronnie, and two brothers: Jack Catron (wife) Thelma, and Omer Catron (wife) Janet, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Catron, father, and Flora Catron, mother. Her husband Roger Allen James. A sister, Agnes Golliher (husband) Ted, and two brothers: Kenneth Catron (wife) Dorothy, and Jesse Catron (wife) Polly.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 5th, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, 2400 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, Indiana.

The funeral service for Gladys Pearl Catron James will be held at Sproles Family Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 6th, with Reverand Harlan Sannes officiating.

Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetary

The James family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Scenic Chapel Funeral Home, and Sproles Family Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
