Throughout his life’s work, his passion and enthusiasm for volunteer fire prevention touched every aspect of his being. His first fire Department was Mayhill VFD and he later helped to establish the Upper Cox Canyon VFD. Once settled down in Carlsbad, Gaylon re-entered the VFD field with La Huerta VFD. This led to his recruitment of Chief at Happy Valley VFD. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with, as well as the community he served.
