Frank Joseph Butler Jr. peacefully went home to his Lord and Savior in Heaven at the age of 76, on Monday, July 24 in Alamogordo, NM with his loving family by his side.
Frank was born on February 17, 1947 in Troy, New York, where he lived until he joined the United States Air Force in 1966. He married his High School sweetheart, Olga Judka, the same year and they raised their family amidst a variety of military assignments until he retired from the Air Force in 1986. After retiring from military life, he and his family settled in Alamogordo, New Mexico, to pursue his dream of helping with his cousin’s cattle ranch. He worked for eight years with the Vega Corporation in Oragrande, New Mexico, using the avionic and electronic skills he honed in the military. He went on to pursue a second career with 1st National Bank of Alamogordo where he retired after twenty-two years. Frank enjoyed outdoor activities, travel, home projects, and had an amazing sense of humor.
Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Olga; daughters Olga Thomas and husband Shawn of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Christina Buhnerkempe and husband Michael of Odessa, Texas, and Rebecca Mowrey of Alamogordo, New Mexico; granddaughter Olga King-Swofford and husband Michael of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandson Ryan Humphries of Alamogordo, New Mexico; step-granddaughters Samantha Parrott and husband Jesse of Denver, Colorado, and Rachel Buhnerkempe of Houston, Texas; brother Donald Butler and wife Michelle of Carlsbad, New Mexico; cousins Helen Martin and husband Bud and Sam Fairchild of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-great grandchildren, in-laws, other cousins, and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Butler; son Frank J. Butler III; sister Louise Finton; brother Robert Butler; grandson Coryn J. Thomas; and great-granddaughter Abigail Humphries.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 12 at Scenic Chapel, 1334 N Scenic Dr. in Alamogordo, NM with Deacon Ken Quade of St Joseph Catholic Community Holloman AFB officiating.
The Butler family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the services.
