Frances Fenimore

Frances Mae Fenimore, 89 of Alamogordo, New Mexico passed away surrounded by her loved ones, Wednesday, August 9th, 2023. Frances was born November 30th, 1933, in Sacramento, New Mexico to Wenona Davis Calkins and Royal Paxton Calkins. 

Frances married Norman Ray Fenimore January 14, 1954, in Alamogordo NM subsequently celebrating more than 51 years together before his death in 2005. She graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1952. Frances worked for Otero County, the City of Alamogordo, and retired from the Alamogordo Public Schools in 1995. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, and quilting. Frances made her first quilt at age 7 and continued to create beautiful quilts for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frances was a Past Matron of Alamo Chapter #11 Order of Eastern Star and became a life member in 2016.  Frances’ greatest achievement was her family. 

She is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanne D. Mills (Mike), Carol A. Kenyon (Ward); 6 grandchildren, Anna Kenyon Galfano (Matt), Suzanne Mills Stager (Josh), Michael Jonathan Mills (Aimee), Dana Kenyon Cantrell (Brad), Jacob Roy Mills (Shannon), Shelby Dugie (Jonathan); 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ray Fenimore; her parents, Wenona Davis Calkins and Royal Paxton Calkins; grandsons James Thomas, and Brandon Eric Mills; and her 3 brothers, Royal Bruce, James Shelby, Dr. Homer L. Calkins.

Service will be held at Scenic Chapel (FKA: Hamilton O’Dell Funeral Home) 1334 N Scenic Drive, Alamogordo, NM, Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, 11 AM with viewing Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at 6 - 8 PM .
