Claudie L. Guthrie was called home by her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2016 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Claudie was born on June 11, 1927 in Alamogordo to Claude and Aida Johnson who preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Claudie worked for Mountain Bell from 1954-1979, retiring after twenty five years of service. She worked at the New Mexico School for the Visually Impaired for five years following her retirement from Mountain Bell.
Claudie is survived by her four children, Jimmy Guthrie, Carolyn Kment, Steve Guthrie and his wife, Kim, and Norman Guthrie and wife, Vicki; brother, Jerry Johnson; sister, Pauline Crawford; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She married Harold Carrol Guthrie on October 13,1942 who preceded her in death in 1988. Also preceding her in death were her father and mother-in-law, George and Margaret Guthrie; son, Melvin Guthrie; son-in-law, Robert Kment; brothers Floyd Johnson and Clarence Johnson; sisters Vivian Kraenzlein and Velma McClellan.
Pallbearers will be Steve Guthrie, Justin Roberts, David Sanchez, Jimmy Guthrie and Norman Guthrie.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, 1334 Scenic Drive, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on May 4, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1316 Scenic Drive, Alamogordo, with Pastor Howell Scott officiating.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Guthrie family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
