Cathy Lynn Browning, 78, passed away on May 10, 2025, after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, to John Oliver Browning and Mary Aline Browning.
Survivors include her sisters, Stephanie Browning of Alamogordo, Ann Browning of Alamogordo, Nancy Bates of Montana, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, sister Sandra Kay Morrison, nephew Danny Morrison, and niece Tina Ann Aubin.
Cathy lived in Alamogordo most of her life and worked here for many years. She retired from the Alamogordo Public Schools where she worked as a custodian. Cathy was a very talented genealogy researcher and researched her own family as well as the families of several friends.
Cathy had a special love and understanding for children and animals and they loved her right back. She will be remembered for the many animals she rescued as well as the loving attention she gave the children in her family. Her sisters, nieces, and nephews will carry many fond memories of the hours Cathy spent with them - reading, hiding surprise gifts, playing games, drawing and crafting, taking them on day trips, hiking, and many other activities.
At Cathy’s request, no funeral services were held. She was cremated and her ashes buried with her father at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Mesilla Valley Hospice of Las Cruces, New Mexico, provided excellent care in her last days and Scenic Chapel facilitated her cremation and burial.
