Anthony “Tony” John Tamosaitis, Jr., 85, loving father, grandfather and friend passed away August 16th, 2023 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born January 25th, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. Tony graduated from Calumet High School, in Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted soon after in the United States Air Force. Following honorable discharge from active-duty military, he worked as a Radar Technician for more than 25 years and happily retired.
After retirement, Tony traveled to several countries including China and Australia as well as several others in Europe. While in Ireland, Tony took part in the tradition of bestowing a kiss upon the Blarney Stone, a centuries old tradition said to give a person the gift of eloquence and persuasiveness. When Anthony was not traveling to soak up the wonders of the world, he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Bears football teams play- as he was their biggest fan.
Anthony was preceded in death by his wife Emma Jean Melton; father Anthony Sr. ; mother Alice; two brothers, Ed and Bob Tamosaitis; and sister Arlene Tamosaitis. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Tony Tamosaitis; daughter, Wendy (Al) Amescua and stepson, Joe (Douglin) Whitted. He is also survived by his brother, Don Tamosaitis; grandchildren: Alec (Marissa) Amescua, Darec Amescua, Joey (Kammi) Whitted, Stephanie (Justin) Tidwell, Robert Rogers, Victoria Whitted, and Carrlee Whitted; great- grandchildren: Mason Amescua, Haylee Whitted, Conner Whitted; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 11: 00 am with Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Scenic Chapel. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery with military honors.
