Andrew John Balcom

Andy Balcom, 77, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2017. He was born on June 1, 1939 in Corsicana, Texas to Homer and Rose Balcom.

Andy grew up in Dallas and graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked in that field for several years then started his own construction company, where he specialized in residential and commercial construction in the Dallas area. He married Dyanne Butler in April 1979. In 1989 he and Dyanne moved to the Cloudcroft, NM area. Andy was very active in their church, Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Alamogordo, NM where he served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, instructor in Evangelism Explosion and doing anything else that the church needed. Andy had two loves in his life, the Lord Jesus and Dyanne, his wife. Andy had a true heart for the lost and was always eager and glad to share the Gospel with anyone. He continued to partner with Dyanne in their home repair business until his death.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Homer and Rose Balcom, and his brother, Barrie T. Balcom.

He is survived by his wife, Dyanne, sister in law Becky Balcom, nephew Stuart Balcom, nieces Holly Fawcett, Sally Reavis and Linda Stritzel, grandnephews Nichols Fawcett, Michael Balcom, Thomas Balcom, Hank Reavis and Will Stritzel, grandnieces Allison Frick, Whitney Fawcett, Blair Olivier, Helen Stritzel and Isabelle Stritzel and two great grandnephews Hollis and Monroe Frick.

Graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on May 5, 2017 at the James Canyon Cemetery, in Otero County (located between mile marker 25 and 26 on US Highway 82) with Pastor Shelby Moon officiating.

Memorial worship service at 1 p.m. on May 5th, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2201 15th St., Alamogordo, NM with Pastor Rick Steele officiating.

The Balcom family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
