Alton Jarold Ward

Alton Jarold Ward , 95, passed away peacefully October 19, 2022 with his family by his side.

Alton was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Al was a hardworking man who had an amazing and unwavering love for his family and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Alton was born August 1, 1927 to Thomas Clayton Ward  and Florence Current in White Oaks, New Mexico . 

Alton is survived by his sister-in-law, Jane (Robert) Dobbs; his daughters, Denise Goldman, Em Ward, Felise (Tim) Turri; and his sons, William (Tamara) Ward and Jarold Ward.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and numerous loving (great) nieces and (great) nephews. 

Alton is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Ward, his parents and three siblings, Inez Ballenger, Clarence Ward and Thomas Ward.

Alton moved to Alamogordo in 1956 to accept a job at Otero County State Bank as Assistant Cashier.  Alton then worked for Leader Corporation and Aerodyne, Inc.  On April 11, 1961 he married his true love and life partner, Charlene Ward.  In 1970 Alton became co-owner of Alamogordo Title Company.  Over the years he was owner/co-owner of many businesses and co-founder of Fountaingate Children's Home.  Alton was an active member of many civic and professional associations such as :  NM Christian Child Care Association, Rotary Club of Alamogordo, American Legion, Alamogordo Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and Rocket Shrine Club and many more.  Alton was a long-time member of the Full Gospel Men's Spiritual Group.  Alton also enjoyed his sixteen-year involvement with the children of Casa de Libertad Orphange in Juarez, Mexico.

The family will greet friends Friday, November 4, 2022 at Scenic Chapel from 6 pm to 8 pm, Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Services will be held at Scenic Chapel on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10:00 am.

Burial to follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in White Oaks, New Mexico

The family will be having a celebration of life after the burial at 4:00 pm held at 12 La Mesa, Alamogordo, NM.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Research Hospital of Shriners Hospital for Children.
